Buyer and seller:
Eyes for flowers – looking in Denmark and the rest of the world.
Bo Odgaard is a buyer and seller at Plantas, and he takes pride in ensuring that Rema 1000 has fresh flowers and plants on the shelves year-round. It has now been 20 years since he was a carpenter and traded sawdust for the freshness of the plant kingdom.
“I really like the job, where there is a great deal of freedom with responsibility. My work in taking care of customers is very independent, and besides, I have a really good team of colleagues to exchange ideas with. We get along well – both professionally and socially,” says Bo Odgaard.
A large part of the assortment in the stores is reserved for the future, but it’s also about tempting customers with exciting flowers and plants that are currently in trend. “We need to know what the nurseries have in terms of exciting flowers and plants in Denmark and the rest of the world. In everyday life, I am in close dialogue with our colleagues at Flora Nordic in Holland, who also keep themselves informed in the industry all the time and find fresh samples of plants and flowers of good quality. And fortunately, the world has become ‘small’ because it has become so digital. This means that with our knowledge of the industry, we can often make quick decisions,” says Bo Odgaard.

Significant responsibility and numerous tasks
Line Revsbeck is an in-house legal counsel at Plantas, and her responsibilities are diverse. She advises the company on a wide range of legal issues, including employment law, corporate law, debt collection, and contract law.
“I have a great deal of responsibility and a very varied and independent job. I handle both more complex tasks that extend over longer periods and smaller issues that need to be solved here and now. I work with several different legal areas and have many interfaces both internally and externally. It makes my work truly exciting and developmental,” says Line Revsbeck.
She values the collaboration with her colleagues. “Everyone talks to everyone and helps each other. It is a company with high professionalism and a really good atmosphere. I have felt at home since the first day I joined the company in August 2020,” says Line.
She describes the company culture as welcoming, informal, and friendly. A place where many would like to work.
At work in the cut flower department:
Enjoys a busy day at work
Susanne Bergmann is known by many as ‘Susanne from the cut flower department.’ She was part of the team that initiated the cut flower department at Plantas 29 years ago, and everyone who comes to the company knows her, including both customers and suppliers.
Susanne’s workday begins at 5:00 AM when fresh flowers are delivered to the headquarters in Tilst. Along with her colleagues, the first task of the day is a significant packing job to process the many orders. Soon, the department buzzes with customers, such as wholesalers and market traders, who come to select fresh flowers for their businesses. Later, there is office work involving purchasing and sales, as well as planning activities for supermarkets. “We receive completely fresh products in the morning, and they need to move on immediately. It means juggling a lot of tasks and maintaining a high pace, and I really like that. No two days are the same, which makes the job exciting,” says Susanne.
She greatly values both customers and colleagues. “It’s nice to have customers in the house who come and choose the flowers they want for their business. Even though we are busy, there is always time for a greeting and a comment,” she says, continuing, “I really appreciate my colleagues. Despite being very different, we complement each other fantastically. We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses precisely.”
Susanne Bergmann has collaborative relationships across the board internally. “There’s just a good atmosphere at Plantas. It’s priceless,” she says with a smile.
Sales driver:
Flowers of the day in the truck
Florists in West and North Jutland know Jacob Lykke inside and out after 15 years in his role as a sales driver at ProFlora. When he arrives in his large, silver-gray truck filled with fresh flowers and plants, the florists are ready to see what he has brought. “I know the florists really well. We don’t just talk about flowers but also about the day, the road, and our families. It’s cozy,” says Jacob Lykke.
Florists are invited for a tour inside the truck to look, touch, and smell the abundant selection of flowers and plants. After many years in the job, Jacob knows a lot about the products – knowledge he gladly shares with the florists, and vice versa. “I start really early in the morning to pack the truck with fresh goods. It results in long days on the road, and that also means I don’t work five days a week, but instead 3.5 days. It gives me freedom, and we’ve managed to make it work at home,” says Jacob. Jacob always has a colleague with him in the truck. “It means a lot to have a good partner when we spend so much time together. Moreover, it’s a lovely job. You take care of your own and know the customers and all their wishes. And it’s always fun when you can tempt them a little extra,” says Jacob.
Key Account Manager:
Eagerly on the hunt for new plants
Marco Bijl sells flowers and plants every day to customers in Holland, Belgium, and Finland. He has been doing this for 8 years, serving garden centers, other wholesalers, and supermarket chains.
“We have an assortment of thousands of flowers and plants that customers can buy from. And if there’s something they want that’s not on the list, well, then I’m happy to go on a hunt. I am curious and find it exciting to visit nurseries to see and hear what they have. When I see that consumers are asking for new plants, I also encourage growers to cultivate them,” says Marco. For example, he experiences high demand from young consumers for more green plants.
“It’s fun to find the next trendy plants. I am driven by closing a sale. And I find the interaction with customers both exciting and educational. My joy in going to work is also largely about having a really good workplace. We sit in a group of three in a large export department, and we get along really well,” says Marco Bijl.
